Book Title: The Mindful Practice of Falun Gong: Meditation for Health, Wellness and Beyond

This book reveals the findings of over a decade of academic research in the first-ever empirical study on the health effects of Falun Gong outside China.

What it’s About:

The Mindful Practice of Falun Gong marries research evidence with the art of storytelling.

The book heralds the author’s Hearts Uplifted project.

Its aim is to revive the lived experiences of individuals whose lives have been profoundly touched and transformed by Falun Gong—an  ancient Chinese meditation practice for overall mind, body, and spiritual improvement.

Drawing from a labyrinth of research findings and the on-going study, the author effectively weaves facts from the academic inquiry with a compelling story of one woman’s journey to wellness with Falun Gong.

The book presents the results from the Australian survey—a doctoral study—that investigates the health-wellness effects of Falun Gong, as perceived by those who practice it.

There are currently two ongoing projects.

The first is the publication of the Margaret Trey’s doctoral dissertation as it is.

The second explores Falun Gong in our contemporary society, how an ancient Chinese spiritual discipline offers solace, peace, and inner joy for countless individuals from all walks of life!

The Effects of Falun Gong: A doctoral dissertation
The Effects of Falun Gong – A Doctoral Dissertation

Falun Gong presents as one such mind-body Eastern meditative spiritual cultivation practice that is gaining worldwide popularity, although knowledge of its effects, potential use in counseling and health-wellness promotion is still lacking.

This research provides a world-wide
demographic profile (excluding mainland China) of Falun Gong practitioners.

It presents the health-wellness effects
of Falun Gong as perceived by Falun Gong practitioners, compared with individuals who do not practice Falun Gong.

Findings show that people who practice Falun Gong have more positive and optimistic perceptions of their health. They report a better health-wellness status than those who do not practice Falun Gong.

Overall, findings from the doctoral study support Falun Gong as a beneficial mind-body, health-wellness spiritual cultivation practice.
